Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, has announced funding of over €890,000 for the promotion of Irish arts globally through Culture Ireland’s Regular Grants Programme.

The funding will benefit 143 projects taking place in 36 countries, covering dance, film, literature, music, opera, theatre and visual arts.

Announcing the grants, Minister O’Donovan said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce this round of Culture Ireland funding of over €890,000. This highlights the Government’s continued commitment and focus to supporting Irish artists and cultural organisations in reaching international audiences. I wish all the artists well in their global travels.”

• Dance: Cloudy Study by John Scott Dance (Italy), Mufutau Yusuf touring Impasse and Proses On Neither Here Nor There (South Africa, Croatia, Norway, Germany, Spain) and Teac Damsa presenting MÁM by Michael Keegan-Dolan (Finland).
• Film: Support towards attendance by Irish filmmakers at significant international film festivals such as the British & Irish Film Festival (Luxembourg), the Newport Beach Film Festival (USA), the Animasyros, Animation festival (Greece), and the San Francisco Irish Film Festival (USA).
• Literature:  Irish writers appearing at various international literary festivals, such as the International Interdisciplinary Literature (Cyprus), the Vancouver Writers Festival (Canada) and Author Charleen Hurtubise presenting SAOIRSE at a series of literary events (USA, Canada).
• Music: Support for international tours across the world covering a range of artists and genres including Goitse (USA, Germany, UK), Plankton (Japan), John Blek (UK), Kate Ellis (Netherlands), NOTIFY (South Korea, Japan), The Haar (Australia), Dug (USA), Aoife Scott (Denmark), Séamus & Caoimhe (France) and Ragas to Reels (India).
• Theatre: Support for international tours, including Dead Centre (Australia, Latvia), tasteinyourmouth (Australia), SkelpieLimmer Productions (UK), Pan Pan (China), Brassneck Theatre (USA) and Branar (Canada).
• Visual Arts:  International exhibitions by Irish artists including Alan Phelan (Italy), Breda Lynch (Thailand), Eamonn Doyle (China), Mick O’Kelly (Belgium) and Claire Halpin (UK).
• Multidisciplinary: Continued support towards the programme of Irish arts and culture at key festivals and venues including Ars Electronica (Austria), The Charlottetown Busker Festival (Canada), Claddagh Fest (Italy), the Kulturlinie Festival (Germany) and Festival Isulimondi (Corsica).

A further €4m in funding has been provided for the period July to December for Cultúr 2026 the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.  That programme will showcase Irish artists across every EU Member State and every county in Ireland, bringing the best contemporary Irish artists have to offer to Irish citizens and our European neighbours to highlight and celebrate our culture.
