Culture Ireland’s Edinburgh Showcase Programme continues to offer an important and unique platform for Irish theatre and dance artists to gain international media and audience recognition for their work and to develop their networks.
Since its establishment in 2005, Culture Ireland’s support of Irish artists presenting at the Edinburgh Fringe (5 – 31 August) have enabled subsequent international touring and the development of strong networks for Irish dance and theatre artists.
The eight productions in this year’s programme are:
- The Pigeon Factory (Oh!Scare Wilde Productions) – 25 performances at Underbelly (5 – 30 August)
- Mortal Sin (Benjamin Reilly) – 24 performances at Gilded Balloon (5 – 31 August)
- Spin Cycle: The Lesbian Launderette Play (Bethan Rose & Berserk Theatre) – 26 performances at Underbelly (5 – 31 August)
- FOR DOLORES (Fishamble: The New Play Company) – 22 performances at Traverse Theatre (6 – 30 August)
- Good With Faces (Oisín Kearney and Gina Donnelly) – 24 performances at Summerhall (6 – 31 August)
- Julius Caesar Variety Show (Joy Nesbitt) – 24 performances at Summerhall (6 – 31 August)
- The King of the Birds (Martha Knight) – 24 performances at Summerhall (6 – 31 August)
- Ham Sandwiches and Discipline (NAF Dance) – 13 performances at Assembly George Square (19 – 31 August)
A special Networking event is scheduled for Tuesday 18 August at Summerhall Arts where Irish artists can engage directly with international programmers and presenters.
In addition, Culture Ireland also supports a number of Irish writers who will participate in the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
