The Frankfurt Book Fair takes place this week (15 – 19 October 2025). Through its annual grant to Literature Ireland, Culture Ireland has supported the presence of an Ireland stand and delegation at the Frankfurt Book Fair over many years. This year a new Ireland stand will be provided to showcase the work of Irish publishers and create a space for discussion and networking.

Founded in 1949, the Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest book fair in the world and a major cultural event, attracting over 115,000 trade visitors each year. An Irish delegation of 5 independent Irish publishers have been awarded travel bursaries to attend the event.

During the book fair, publishers will meet literary agents, international colleagues, and translators to develop further opportunities for Irish writers to reach an international readership.
