Minister O’Donovan congratulates Lost Lear on its Fringe First Award in Edinburgh

The Minister for Culture, Communications & Sport Patrick O’Donovan has congratulated Dan Colley and the Lost Lear Company on their Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Created to encourage and recognise outstanding new writing at the Festival, The Scotsman’s Fringe First award was announced at a special event in Edinburgh this morning (Friday 15 August).
Minister O’Donovan said:

“I send my sincere and warmest congratulations to Dan, Matt and the entire Lost Lear company on their Fringe First. This is not just a brilliant achievement for all involved in this moving theatrical story but also an acknowledgement of the strength of Irish work being supported by Culture Ireland this year as part of its Showcase. I look forward to passing on my congratulations in person when I travel to Edinburgh next week.”

Lost Lear’s Writer/Director Dan Colley said:

“We are thrilled with our Fringe First. This recognition and the inclusion in the Culture Ireland Showcase will undoubtedly continue to open more doors for our international touring. For that, we are doubly grateful.”

Lost Lear is being presented by Dan Colley with Riverbank Arts Centre and Mermaid Arts Centre and is currently playing at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh as part of Culture Ireland’s Edinburgh Showcase.
Established in 2005, Culture Ireland‘s mission is to promote Irish arts worldwide. This year’s Edinburgh Showcase features eight productions playing at Fringe venues across Edinburgh, supporting theatre and dance artists to reach new international audiences and create further international touring opportunities.
