Music from Ireland at The Great Escape 2019
The Great Escape, one of the foremost music events that showcase emerging talent opens today in Brighton and features 23 Irish artists performing under the guidance of Music from Ireland with Culture Ireland support.
Music from Ireland (MFI), the Irish music export office, is an initiative of First Music Contact in partnership with Culture Ireland.
At The Great Escape, as well as supporting the Irish acts in the body of the festival, Music from Ireland will be holding a networking brunch event and an official day-long showcase of new Irish music featuring the showcasing Irish acts to an invited industry audience.
This is the largest Irish presence at an international showcase this year and is one of ten international music showcase events with an Irish presence. Other events include Eurosonic, SXSW, Primavera, Iceland Airwaves and Reeperbahn. Bands are funded, showcased and promoted at each event, with the objective of building further international opportunities for the artists.
Music from Ireland has had great success promoting Irish music at The Great Escape since its inception with Saint Sister, Kodaline, The Coronas, Hozier and most recently Fontaines DC all featuring in previous editions.
The Irish Showcase Artists are:
Pat Dam Smyth
The Murder Capital
The Wood Burning Savages
