Irish Opera Kicks Off Busy Season

IRISH OPERA KICKS OFF BUSY SEASON FOR IRISH ARTISTS IN BRITAN AS PART OF CULTURE IRELAND GB18

Enda Walsh and Donnacha Dennehy’s opera The Second Violinist, artist Jesse Jones' Tremble Tremble (Ireland at Venice 2017)  and a new site-specific production from ANU productions are among the many highlights of Culture Ireland’s GB18 programme this Autumn.

Culture Ireland's yearlong focus on Irish work in Britain continues with the UK premiere of Landmark Productions and Irish National Opera’s critically acclaimed The Second Violinist, opening tonight at London’s Barbican Center for three performances. The opera launches a busy autumn across Britain for Irish artists with more than 40 projects touring across England, Scotland and Wales, including participation for the first time in the Liverpool Irish and Irish Tyneside Festivals.

Other autumn highlights for Culture Ireland GB18 include:
Theatre - Shows by The Abbey Theatre, Fishamble: The New Play Company, Pan Pan Theatre and Dead Centre
Music - National tour by Slow Moving Clouds
Literature - A 16-city tour by Stephen James Smith
Film - A programme of Irish film by Irish Film Institute in various British cities
Dance - Performances by CoisCéim Dance Theatre, Colin Dunne and Liz Roche Company.
Visual Arts - Jesse Jones’ Tremble Tremble in Edinburgh and more than a dozen Irish artists exhibiting at galleries across Britain
