IMAGINING IRELAND ON RTÉ RADIO 1 ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY
https://www.dfa.ie/irish-embassy/great-britain/Irish radio listeners will get a unique opportunity to hear Imagining Ireland - a special event recorded in London earlier this year to mark the end of Culture Ireland GB18, a yearlong programme of Irish arts and culture in Britain. Highlights from the concert will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 on St. Patrick’s Bank Holiday Monday (March 18) at 2pm.
Some of Ireland’s finest writers and musicians participated in this one-night-only concert of words and music exploring Irish life in England at London’s Barbican Centre in January 2019. The event was attended by the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan, T.D.
Produced by the National Concert Hall in association with Serious, artists included Radie Peat of Lankum, Lisa O’Neill, Michael J. Sheehy and The Gloaming’s Martin Hayes, currently a Culture Ireland Ambassador.
Writers talking part in the evening included poet Martina Evans, who has written extensively on music and life in London, Joseph O’Connor (Star of The Sea) and BBC documentarian Fergal Keane (The Story of Ireland).
It was the third concert in a series of words-and-music events produced by Serious and the National Concert Hall, Dublin at the Barbican, following on from Imagining Ireland: 21st Century Song in 2018 and Imagining Ireland: a special event as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme in April 2016.
