Festival Season in Full Swing in Dublin
Over 40 international delegates travel for Dublin’s Fringe and Theatre Festivals
Culture Ireland welcomes international delegates and presenters who are in Dublin for the Festival Season. In partnership with the Irish Theatre Institute, the Dublin Theatre Festival and Dublin Fringe Festival, Culture Ireland supports the inward travel of many programmers and Festival Directors who see Irish performing arts at all scales and levels.
Over recent years, many artists have been invited to present their work abroad directly from Festival appearances in Dublin so these are valuable opportunities for artists to present their work and network with their international colleagues.
On Friday, the Information Toolbox, produced by Irish Theatre Institute with support from Culture Ireland, took place in the Civic Offices, Wood Quay, with networking in the morning and In Developments in the afternoon. In addition, the international visitors had a full schedule of Fringe performances across the city. Their schedule also included, for the first time, Pitching Sessions by five Irish artists for work in various stages of development. There has been a strong and enthusiastic response to this new initiative.
In early October, the International Theatre eXchange will also feature international delegates sampling the Irish work during the Dublin Theatre Festival with Culture Ireland support. The two-day conference will give a chance for Irish companies to promote their work and develop further contacts.
