Culture Ireland mourns the loss of former Chairperson Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin
The loss of Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, former Chairperson of Culture Ireland is deeply felt by the executive of Culture Ireland, former Board members and Committee members as well as audiences around the globe.Mícheál made an enormous contribution as the first Chairperson of Culture Ireland from its establishment in 2005 until 2014, shaping how Ireland could best promote its arts and culture worldwide.
Ireland holds a strong reputation for our creativity globally and Micheál played a huge role (in achieving that through his unique approach and support for Irish artists at every level).
Renowned as a pianist and composer as well as an educationalist who founded the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, where he mentored further generations of Irish musical talent, Mícheál’s legacy will be far reaching.
