Culture Ireland International Culture Programme for 2016
Culture Ireland invites proposals from artists and presenters interested in participating in the 2016 International Culture Programme of the Government's to mark the centenary of 1916.
Culture Ireland will be accepting calls/queries on Monday 23rd, final day for submission.
Culture Ireland hopes to present a vibrant, contemporary and high quality programme including a range of events across artistic disciplines in key territories (for example US, Great Britain, Canada, Australia) and in other locations where there are strong links to Ireland and its history and tradition. Proposals for tours to multiple locations are welcomed.
The programme will engage primarily with contemporary artists and influences, while reflecting on Ireland's cultural journey over the past one hundred years. The aim is to showcase Irish artistic excellence in partnership with significant international institutions, venues and festivals and build on Ireland's global cultural connections.
There will be special focus on key cultural dates such as St Patricks Day and Bloomsday as well as dates of historic relevance. The focus period will be March- June 2016 with scope for less heightened activity throughout the rest of the year.
Outline projects are requested to be submitted by Monday 23 February to enable their inclusion in advance planning and budgeting. Further proposals may be considered on a rolling basis at a later stage, if funding permits.
Applications may be made by Irish artists and companies or by international presenters, and should include as much budget information as possible, including supplementary material if needed.
The submission should be no longer than one page, submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org, entitled Commemorations 2016 and should contain:
• An outline of the concept of the proposed presentation
• A description of the media you propose to deliver the project
• An outline of your approach to the practical realisation of the presentation
• A list of the proposed participants if relevant
• An outline of how your proposal will showcase Irish creativity development over the past centenary and/or highlight Ireland's contemporary creative strengths.
Closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday 23 February 2015.
