Culture Ireland - COVID-19 UPDATE

Culture Ireland is conscious of the many changes to international plans for Irish artists and companies and understands the impacts and challenges the COVID-19 crisis is presenting.

Culture Ireland commits to working on behalf of artists and supporting them through this challenging period.

(1) Culture Ireland will honour grants for cancelled and postponed events

Many international events involving Irish artists have been cancelled over the last week. Culture Ireland will refund expenditure for grants which have been awarded for these events. Information is available on Frequently Asked Questions here.

(2)  A payment to support employees and self-employed people who are unemployed or who have their hours of work reduced during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

As a self employed artist you may be entitled to the new Pandemic Unemployment Payment  (PUP) provided by the Department of Social Protection.

Details and application form available here:

(3) Measuring the Impacts

In order to support the arts sector through the current crisis and plan into the future, it is critical that we collect as much information as about the impact on artists.

We ask for you to complete questionnaire prepared by our colleagues at First Music Contact here and the National Campaign for the Arts here to ensure that we have accurate information relating to artists with international reach.

We know how resilient our Irish artists have proven to be in the past. As with all areas of Irish society, this resilience will be challenged over the coming weeks. Culture Ireland is committed to supporting our artists and will continue to seek innovative ways of promoting Irish culture worldwide.
