100+ US Presenters Attend Culture Ireland Showcase of Irish Works in NYC
More than 100 US presenters recently attended the Culture Ireland showcase of Irish performing arts at Irish Arts Center in New York.
The 90-minute showcase featured over 20 works ready for touring the U.S. by Irish artists and organizations including The Abbey Theatre, Druid Theatre, Once Off Productions, field:arts, Jean Butler, Michael Gallen and more.
The showcase was attended by many leading arts organisations including representatives from BAM, Lincoln Center, St Ann’s Warehouse, RedCat, San Francisco International Arts, Met Live Arts, Skirball NYU, Hudson Hall, The Perelman Center for the Performing Arts.
The showcase took place alongside the 5th annual NICCONA conference (Network of Irish Cultural Centers of North America) at which 30+ presenters of Irish culture, including Solas Nua, Celtic Junction Arts Center, Irish American Heritage Center, Chicago, met with Irish artists.
Presenters and NICCONA members also attended three shows playing in New York with Culture Ireland support: Fishamble’s production of Heaven by Eugene O’Brien and Big Telly’s Frankenstein’s Monster is Drunk both playing at 59E59 Theaters as part of the Origin 1st Irish Theater Festival and Trade/Mary Motorhead in a co-production by Irish National Opera and Beth Morrison Projects as part of Prototype.
