Established in 1947 and entertaining audiences of 73,000 over 12 days, Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) is the world’s longest continually running film festival, renowned for discovering and promoting the very best in international cinema. Each year EIFF premieres films, bringing filmmakers and audiences together for a unique celebration of film. Intimate in scale, ambitious in scope and fuelled by pure passion for cinema in all its manifestations, EIFF seeks to spotlight the most exciting and innovative new film talent.

EIFF explores new ideas in cinema, inviting local and international audiences to engage with a dynamic programme of features, documentaries, shorts, special events and experimental cinema including over 100 new features and over 500 screenings and events.

The Centre for the Moving Image (CMI) is a national organisation with bases in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. It aims to use film in all its guises to transform people’s lives – through the watching, making and understanding of film. Above all, the CMI is seeking to ensure that film culture is understood, celebrated and properly supported for filmmakers and audiences across the country.
