The annual exhibitions offer an important platform for Irish artists, architects and curators to present their work globally, gain international profile and generate further opportunities for them to present their work outside of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">2021<\/span> Venice Architecture Biennale<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/entanglement.annex.ie\/\">\u2018Entanglement\u2019 <\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0Annex<\/h3>\n<p>Owing to the global COVID-19 pandemic the 17th International Architecture Biennale, due to be held in 2020, has been postponed to 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Annex, a collective made up of architects \u2014 David Capener, Donal Lally, Clare Lyster, artists \u2014 Sven Anderson, Alan Butler and urbanist \u2014 Fiona McDermott represent Ireland with an exhibition entitled <em>Entanglement<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland\u2019s exhibition responds to the theme set by the curator, Hashim Sarkis : <em>How will we live together?.<\/em>\u00a0Under this theme Sarkis calls on architects to imagine spaces in which we can generously live together\u00a0 as human beings to connect with one another and with other species across digital and real space; <em>Entanglement<\/em> also responds to the curator\u2019s invitation to architects to engage with other professions to deliver their exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will be run from 22 May to 29 November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland\u2019s participation in the Venice Biennale 2021 will build on Ireland\u2019s strong presence at the Venice Biennale in 2018 which was curated by Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell of Grafton Architects.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ireland&#039;s Representation at Venice Architecture Biennale 2021.   &quot;Entanglement&quot; by Annex\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zWPDDph4vew?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cultureireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pavilion-of-Ireland-Press-Release.pdf\">*** Pavilion of Ireland Press Release ***<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a style=\"color: #333333;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cultureireland.ie\/minister-martin-launched-irelands-representation-at-the-venice-architecture-biennale-in-2021\/\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener\">*** Minister Martin launched Ireland\u2019s Representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021 ***<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">2022<\/span> Venice Art Biennale<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/irelandatvenice?lang=en\">&#8216;To mark a space, to hold a spot&#8217;<\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Niamh O\u2019Malley<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Artist, Niamh O\u2019Malley with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios as curator have been selected to represent Ireland at the 59<sup>th<\/sup> Venice Art Biennale in 2022.\u00a0 O\u2019Malley\u2019s proposal for the Irish pavilion, <em>To mark a space, to hold a spot<\/em> reflects an emphasis on the importance of the studio and its role in the creation of work and this collaboration with TBG+S will present O\u2019Malley\u2019s sophisticated, precisely executed, calm work in the context of its making.<\/p>\n<p>Cliodhna Shaffrey, director said \u201cTemple Bar Gallery + Studios is greatly honoured to present artist\u00a0Niamh O&#8217;Malley at the Irish Pavilion for the 59th\u00a0Venice Biennale, 2022. Niamh O\u2019Malley&#8217;s proposal sets us on an artistic journey originating in her\u00a0TBG+S studio and going out into the world at Venice. Known for her\u00a0exquisitely crafted sculptures and moving image installations, O\u2019Malley\u00a0brings attention to the act of looking; encouraging the viewer to slow\u00a0and hold still in the moment.
