Poetry Day Ireland is a major one-day festival of Irish poets and poetry at home and abroad and this year's theme is 'Poetry Connects'.

The day is embraced by many with poetry events held in libraries, bookshops, arts centres, schools, hotels, night clubs, bars, cafes and street corners! To find out today's celebrations please click here.

Readings by Irish poets at Hamburgs first Irish Literature Festival, "WestWords" in Hamburg, Germany from 19 - 21 May 2017

Readings by Louis de Paor and Ailbhe Ni Ghairbuigh at the launch of Louis de Paor's anthology, 'Poems of Repossession', and Ailbhe Ni Ghairbuigh's 'The Coast Road' at the Irish World Heritage Centre, Manchester on 13 May 2017

Participation by Irish poet Elaine Feeney at the International Poetry Spring festival in Vilnius and other places in Lithuania from 24 - 29 May 2017

June

Participation by Irish poets Rita Ann Higgins, Jane Clarke and Louis de Paor at the 21st Ledbury Poetry Festival in the UK from 30 June - 9 July 2017

Poet Phil Lynch will participate in TradFest Belgium which is commencing 12 June, 2017.

There will be a Poetry reading and presentation of films from Ó Bhéal International and a poetry-film competition by Paul Casey at The Poemaria International Poetry Festival in Spain from 16 - 18 June 2017
