Over 4,000 people attended Ireland Week 2012 in Shanghai which ran from March 10-18.
Cultural events during the week long celebrations included an exhibition of art by Ningbo-based Cóbh artist Rory Perrott and an art and photographic exhibition by John Short, Tom Kelly and Yijia Wang at the acclaimed M50 Art Gallery. This was the result of several years collaborative work between Irish and Chinese artists and serves to help underpin the close partnership between DIT and the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.
Also taking place was an Irish Poetry night featuring poets Eileen Sheehan and John Sexton at the Shanghai International Literary Festival. Ireland was the only country honoured with a national day at the Festival. All events were co-ordinated by the Consulate General in Shanghai.
