Ireland at Edinburgh 2013

The annual Edinburgh Festivals in August, comprising the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Edinburgh International Book Festival, represent an  important platform for Irish artists to gain international recognition for their work and to generate further touring opportunities through exposure to  international presenters and media.

Culture Ireland invites artists/companies who have confirmed performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in a recognised venue, and whose productions have already been presented in Ireland with evidence of critical acclaim, to submit applications for inclusion in Culture Ireland's 2013 Edinburgh Festivals showcase.

 

The objectives of  Culture Ireland's Edinburgh Festivals showcase are:

  1. to showcase high quality Irish performance practice
  2. to create further touring opportunities for Irish artists
  3. to help Irish artists build their international networks by providing opportunities for them to meet visiting delegatesto showcase high quality Irish performance practice

Applications will be assessed on the basis of  the following criteria:

  1. the work must have been presented professionally in Ireland prior to August 2013
  2. the work should not have already had significant  international presentation
  3. it should be of a high quality in terms of performance, production values and content
  4. evidence of positive independent critical and/or audience recognition
  5. artists and companies will be required to contribute financial resources towards the costs of presenting the work in Edinburgh
  6. evidence of interest in the company, artist or the work from international presenters
  7. capacity of the artist or company to avail of touring opportunities arising from inclusion in the Edinburgh showcase

 

Applications should be completed and submitted online before the deadline of 5pm Friday 22 February.  Supporting documentation should include a detailed production budget including all sources of projected income and expenditure as well as copies of reviews and a production image.
