International Theatre eXchange 2016
Over 20 Theatre Presenters attend International Theatre eXchange as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival
With the Dublin Theatre Festival in full swing last weekend, over 20 international Theatre Presenters and Programmers attended the International Theatre eXchange (ITX) with Culture Ireland support. ITX is presented by the Irish Theatre Institute.
Over an intense weekend, the international delegates attended Festival performances, networked with Irish artists and theatremakers and saw several works in development.
Their attendance is critical in generating further international opportunities for many Irish artists and companies.
Christine Bial, international delegate with Mid-America Arts Alliance commented:
“ITX provided me with face to face encounters that are inherently necessary for building strong professional relationships and expanded my own personal understanding of the global creative ecosystem in which I work.
The weekend's events not only offered the time to experience the breadth of the festival's offerings, but also the space to intentionally explore the depth of each production from a variety of perspectives. The conversations had throughout the weekend will better inform the planning, promotion, and implementation of this work with my partners in the United States.”
The convention started with the Pitching Initiative, presented in partnership with Culture Ireland, Dublin Theatre Festival and ITI. In the theatre space at the Science Gallery, five separate projects were pitched to the international delegates.
