Dublin Dance Festival Opens – A Chance for Irish Dance Artists to Go Global

19 – 30 May 2015

Over  11 days and nights, the presentation of Irish dance artists by the 11th Dublin Dance Festival  including the First Look and Re-presenting Ireland programmes supported by Culture Ireland, will allow visiting international dance presenters experience new  dance work from Ireland.

Through its Showcase programme, Culture Ireland has been working with the Dance Festival over recent years to bring in a range of international presenters and programmers to see new  work and provide international performance opportunities for Irish choreographers and their companies. This year, over 20  invited delegates interested in programming Irish dance companies will attend from various countries including Denmark, Australia, Germany and the UK.

Through its partnership with Dance Ireland, Culture Ireland supports the Re-Presenting Ireland strand of the programme  in which four young dance artists are being given an opportunity to showcase their work to the international programmers. Performed in Dance House over the two weekends of the Festival, these performances are also open to the public. The  four dance artists selected on the basis of an open call are (Oona Doherty, Deirdre Griffin, Lucia Kickham and Luke Murphy.  Further details and dates and times of the Re-presenting Ireland programme is available here:  http://www.dublindancefestival.ie/programme/performance/studio-sharings
