Ciarán Walsh to manage Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of Council of the European Union
Culture Ireland is advancing plans for a Culture Programme to mark Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union which spans the first six months of 2013 and has engaged Ciarán Walsh to manage the Programme.
Ciarán will look after the development and delivery of a wide-ranging programme of events, exhibitions and performances across all artforms in EU Member States and key third countries.
Ciarán has considerable international arts experience, including posts as General Manager of the Dublin Theatre Festival, Managing Director of Druid Theatre Company and Cultural Events Co-ordinator for the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs co-ordinating cultural programmes for Presidential visits abroad between 2007 and 2011. He is a Council member of The Arts Council of Ireland/An Comhairle Ealaíon.
The cultural programme offers the opportunity to expand the reach of Irish culture to new audiences and to build on the presence of Irish artists at key European festivals and venues. Culture Ireland will continue to accept applications for proposals from Irish artists and companies and European presenters and these may be submitted online here as part of our Special Initiatives programme.
