CALLS FOR SHOWCASE PROPOSALS NOW OPEN FOR WOMEX 2017
Artists wishing to participate in the Official Showcase Programme should now apply to WOMEX for consideration.
WOMEX is one of the most important international professional market for world music of every kind including folk, roots, ethnic and traditional music. The four-day event attracts in excess of 2,000 delegates from over 90 countries, including hundreds of concert and festival bookers, labels, publishers, distributors, managers and the world's media. In 2017, WOMEX will take place from 25 to 29 October in Katowice, Poland.
Culture Ireland has led a delegation of musicians, agents and promoters to WOMEX since 2010 and supported selected bands to perform at this key showcase event.
Culture Ireland's presence at WOMEX is as a partner in Horizons, an initiative of music export and cultural agencies from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In addition to attending networking events and showcase performances, the Irish delegates are also required to attend at the Horizons stand.
Proposals can be made only through the online proposal system run by WOMEX.
The deadline for proposals is Friday, 17 March 2017. Early birds can get a discount on administration fees before Friday, 24 February (applications for conference sessions, DJ-cases and short films are free).
To find more information about the proposals process, see the Submit a Proposal page on the WOMEX website, or go straight to the proposal site.
Culture Ireland will run a delegates’ call for individuals (artists, management, agents, resource organisations) later in 2017.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL THE PROPOSALS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE ONLINE WOMEX SYSTEM AND NOT TO CULTURE IRELAND.
