The weakened eye of day, a solo visual art exhibition by Irish artist Isabel Nolan will be exhibited at two significant contemporary art venues in Canada, the Mercer Union, A Centre for Contemporary Art, Toronto and the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver
Nolan’s works both seduce and disarm us. Her work is underpinned by a desire to examine and capture in material form the moments of intensity that can define our encounters with the objects around us; inexplicable and unsettling moments that leave us with a heightened awareness of what it means to be alive.
The weakened eye of day presents a body of work originally conceived as a single project for the artist’s exhibition in the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition will be reconfigured for these touring venues to include key core pieces alongside new work and including large scale sculptural works, text, wall hangings, drawings and textiles.
